Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum but not to R/C.

I bought a Savage X (4.1) about a year ago and it's been great to me. However I put a set of proline 40 series masher 2000 wheels on it and I cant get it into 2nd gear. I've got a 14 tooth clutch bell and 52 spur gear so I've got enough torque to turn the wheels. I've got the 2 speed adjustment screw out so far I'm afraid it might fall out. I'm looking at buying a 3 speed and I'm wondering if it will provide enough torque and speed with those wheels and tires? (I guess that makes sense.) I don't know if it's important but I'm running the composite clutch shoes. I guess they could be slipping and causing my power loss.

Thanks for any help you can give me, but I'm gonna switch back to the stock wheels until I get the 3 speed or a bigger engine.

on the savage there are two screws side by side where you make the shift adjustments which one did you turn the top or bottom?

The maunual says to turn the bottom one so thats what I'm turning. Last night I put aluminum clutch shoes on it. I put the stock tires back on it and am running the stock gearing but still no second. I'm not sure how much it matters because I'm putting a 3 speed on it next week.
