Hi guys, took my diff apart on my flux today and the inside of my diff is virtually bone dry, should it be fill up with oil or just greased up? if so can any stuff from a car store be used?
I was at my local HS today and asked about that because I was curious, I was told to just make sure that crud like dirt and dust does not accumulate in there but regular oiling was not needed. They do sell oils at the HS for it though, so I guess its a personal choice. I myself intend on doing so, simply for the fact that as a technician I see first hand what happens when Diff's aren't maintained properly.. Make's me tons of money at the shop, but with my RC it'll cost me money if something goes sour..
Hope that helps, and keep in mind I have little to no experience with RC's YET. My answer is based on a mechanic's point of view..
fill the diffs up with a silicon oil i use 50wt front and 30 wt rear. everyones different but don't run them dry. they need the oil to help everything run smoothly. grease works and HPI uses it from the factory, but with oil it allows adjustabilty to how you want the truck to handle. Hope this helps.
