Custom pack

I make my own custom pack from NiMH AA-sized cells. I have been using 2500mAh cells, but found some SP and Sanyo 2700mAh cells that cost about double. :duh:

Anyway (5) of these cells in a length-ways hump configuration fits beautifully in the Savage radio box with only minor minor lid trimming...no weakening of the lid at all. Two very small pieces need to be trimmed so the lid will close. My first pack was taped together, but all others I made are tire-glued and shrink wrapped.

There's the link to my welcome thread...it's a single post about the battery pack.

Crash asked me to post as I may offer these for sale depending on interest I guess. There will be cell options, lead options, and such.

Cost for the 2500mAh pack will be $30, and since the 2700mAh cell costs nearly double so that pack would cost $40.

I'll post a newer picture later on tonight of the clear heat-shrinked pack.

I'm still not sure how to link things lol but I'm still running a 1500 mah NiMH that i bought from onlybatterypacks.com and haven't had any problems with it and was priced reasonably!!!

Here we are.

I am using a 1600mah OFNA humppack and it work great. The 1600mah now got replaced with a 1700mah that works also. I used to run a intellect 1200mah that worked great as well. Others that I have seen been used are the traxxas ones, the HPI 1200mah, and I have also seen a HPI baja 3000mah used. You have to take off one of the cells though. Personally I think its a stupid route to go.

The ultimate pack would be the 2700mAh pack I build for nearly $10 less don't you think? hehe

:jamout:

Hello Chris, does your ultimate 2700mAh batt pack work with a new Savvy X 4.6 without modding the receiver box? How much time would it take to charge at 1amp? Also how much run time I will get from a full charge?

Thanks,

Thanks,

Only a small piece of plastic needs to be trimmed from the radio box lid. Nothing that will alter function at all! Just a tiny piece of plastic removed...otherwise it fits like a champ.

I charge that pack at 1.5amps and it usually takes a little over an hour. How long it lasts depends totally on your servo's, driving style, etc. That just means I can't give you a decent estimate without lying. I've gone all day on a single charge before though! :jamout:

The 2700 is out of stock (need to order more cells), but I do have 2500 and 2300 on the shelf. The capacity of these packs are all very close and you wouldn't likely notice if lasted a shorter amount of time. :resp:

I have yet to write a review on Chris's 2700mah pack but for the 2 charges so far it has been awesome!!!! I even have it crammed into the cen radio box and love it. With the cen box it is definitely a tight fit but not a problem....Once I get a few charges on the pack I will be writing a review....just want to get a few more charges/runs before I do so.

Thanks Folks,

This Forum is "Tha Bomb!".

Chris,

I'm very intrested in the 2700mAh pack. As soon as you have all the HW, let me know so we can do business.

I've been using the Venom 1600 but now that I hear about the 2700 I'm thinking of spending more money!! Xmas gifts great idea!! Great Post!

ya chris I'm thinking i might be interested in buying a battery pack from you for my savage x will keep in touch!! i already have a hump pack but i like the sound of a fairly longer run time between charges!!!

i use orion marathon 1600mah packs in all my trucks.they last me 2 or 3 hrs before i need to recharge them

So as of right now I have a list of people that are *wanting* a receiver pack, but are not committed yet.

- obbi13
- stellerrc
- Shaun
- larsenracing
- SL63
- Blazer X
- Noakes75

All of you want a Sanyo 2700 as far as I can tell except for Blazer who wants a main pack for his sons' Stampede. That's 30 cells and a pretty hefty cost right up front for me...so lemme know when you can and we'll commit to this thing! :jamout:
