savage 25 with drive prob

hi guys , I am new at this so bear with me please , i bought a savage 25 for my grandson and my problem with it is, when you start it and run it, 1 min its 4wd the next its gone front wheel drive and then it sounds like no drive at all, any ideas or suggestions greatful. I think myself poss the gearbox but as I said I don't know

Yes spider gears inside the diff cup, broken pinion or ring gear.

Or could be the pin for the drive cup on either the differential or transmission. most likely the cause....

can I ask another silly question, would the diff from an 1/8 acme warrior fit(have a broken one) asking as they are both 1/8 and I don't know

hey guys , just a quick update , have discovered what the cause of the prob is, the rear diff had a spider gear which was in 2 parts lol. thanks to all who gave advice it was very helpful because I did not know where to start
