Hey Guy,
So I pulled my Savage 25 out of storage the other week and started to repair a few things broken on it. Today I took it out on it first full run it ran great! Then I notice I lost second gear and then lost forward motion all together. This is the first it has been ran in like 6-8 years.

When I lost all forward I pulled the body off thinking i trashed the spur gear but it is perfect no slip marks. I then watched as i would slowly rev the engine the little gear and the spur gear would spin together no problem the truck would just sit still not even try and move forward. I'm thinking something came apart in the trans but any other info would help! Thank you in advance!!

Sounds as if the slipper is not letting it transfer power to the tranny, other wise it could be inside the tranny, time to open it up and see, also check all the grub screws on the tranny output shaft...

Thank you for the input! The slipper is under the tranny correct? And how would you go about testing that do you think? Also what is your thought about dropping a 3 speed tranny in? Just a random thought.

Slipper is behind the spur gear, if you tighten the nut on the spur all the way down you will not slip unnecessarily but under heavy loads it will still slip to protect your tranny gears, as for a 3 speed, one will physically fit and that leaves it to personal preference if you wish to go that route.....

Okay when I first got it running I had replaced the spur because the old one had stripped out. I know I tightened the spur as far it would let me I felt anyway. I'll price them out. I it I saw were a two speed complete is like $30-$40.
