The engine may be salvageable, but you would need some experience with glow engines to stand any reasonable chance of repairing it.Can anyone help new to nitro cars iv just bought a Savage 21 a gift for my son and the pot and piston and crank housing is badly scored thank you in advance
Take a photo of the piston and sleeve please. 👍

What did you destroy?I destroyed it taking it out as it was bad
Piston sleeveWhat did you destroy?
Do you know where I can buy secondhand parts from ??Piston sleeve
If you know what engine it is -Do you know where I can buy secondhand parts from ??
For me and my son it's our very first nitro we have only had battery RCs until now thank you for your helpIf you know what engine it is -
eBay
Modelsport
Wheels pin Models
Euro RC
That should help.
But honestly - is this your first nitro?
If it is, you are 100% better off starting with a new engine & carb. Or someone's demonstrably ready tuned, well maintained engine from a local club.
Anything else is a lottery and you'll have too many variables to get the engine to start - let alone haul a savage around. It will just lead to bad feelings and your Savage will be moth-balled again. 😬
It's a very steep learning curve for the first few weeks - if your engine or carb is faulty, then you may not be able to differentiate between user error or equipment failure. That's a tough deal.
Well all I can say is Nitro engines are awesome when you figure them out. Tuning isn't just about getting them to run - if they're allowed to run lean, damage to the sleeve/piston can result. For me and my son it's our very first nitro we have only had battery RCs until now thank you for your help
I have been around 2 stroke engines for many years I was hoping that would help my knowledgeIf you know what engine it is -

It will definitely help, but the way glow engines work - it's a miracle they run at all! 🤣👍I have been around 2 stroke engines for many years I was hoping that would help my knowledge
