hi i am new to r/c cars and just got a savage x4.6. is the reverse module worth getting or does it just cause more probs????

simon

I did run the reverse module in my truck.......its nice to have but it just got to be a pain....

The gear on mine wore out and it wouldn't grip to the shaft anymore so I just took the module out and bought a new shaft and gear and went back to fwd only.

Just my .02

i guess it would be handy at times but its a savage so if anything gets in your way just drive over it! ha ha

but seriously i don't run with reverse and haven't found that i really need it!!!

It also just adds another servo.....or you having to buy the mixer if you don't have a 3channel receiver.

I don't like having my radio box crammed up with servo wires......bad enough with 2 servo's and the antenna.

I think its got pros and cons so all I can say is more money and more problems to deal with.I realy don't want to have to fix something else lol :Xfingers:

Thats about the way I look at it. I don't know if you plan on racing it or not but if you do race with it a lot of groups, clubs, whatever you want to call them don't allow reverse. Our track doesn't and they would always tell me that if i used my reverse I got put in the pit for 30secs which is a lot of track time.

I like it myself, it saves me alot of walking, pulling the savage out of bushes and stuff, but my driving sucks anyway. another good thing, or at least I would think it would work, i haven't tried it, but in some vidoes where guys try to climb steep hills and the front end is always off the ground, I think it would be easier to make it up if they went up in reverse...

but it is a pain stuffing all the wires into the radio box, but they do fit.

I had reverse on mine for a while 3 yrs ago, yes it is nice to have at times, but cant use at track and I found that if someone turnes their radio on throwes the reverse in not sure the frequence that did it to me, the biggest thing I found wrong with it is it slows the savage down, so it is gone, cant go around it go over it...

I have the reverse module in my truck, and like Wister said it saves a lot of walking. Sometimes you just cant go over stuff and you have to back up, its just more convenient if you have it. But like the guys said if you plan on racing than Id say go without it.
