Receiver disfunction

a few weeks back i started getting very short (2 second ) dead spots maybe one every 5 minutes. usaly under full throttle. the car would not steer and would just go flat out. since then it has got alot worse it now go's into radio black out when its about a foot away from me. full throttle into what ever it hits if i put my arm as high as i can reach in the air, theres a 50% chance i can get it to stop.

I have tried another set of AM cystals, i have also tryed a Acoms transmitter and reciver, with another set of cystals which i now works fine as it is from my other R/C car.

i have done some research on here and it would appear the only answer would be a DSM radio set. Basically i earn naff all i am an apprentice, so money is a big factor. can any1 recommend a decent radio set DX3 0r DX2???? are these type of set ups ok to buy second hand from ebay ETc or are they likly to not function well. I am in the UK

I bout my DX 3 with 2 receivers on ebay for 150 shipped. There was a small scratch on the LCD display, but the gear works great. You can find pretty good deals on new radio gear on ebay also. Buying used, my opinion, is you always take a chance on the condition and operation but don't overlook them.

I had reciever problems lately but I just bought the DX3R and everything is perfect now. DX3R is the best radio by far. I tryed to look used on ebay but couldn't find it. Cheers!:cheers:

I found why the full throttle was jamming the servo was dieing. so not only do i need to get a radio set i also need a new servo 🙁

servo's are fairly cheap. the je 126mg is like 35$ and its a really stong servo. alot of guys like the hitech 645's and 945's.

Nothing says you have to even go that expensive on the throttle servo. Mine recently died (thats what I get for parking my truck upside down in a ditch filled with water!!) I intended to buy a Hi-Tech for like $45 and the lhs talked me down in price to a descent servo for under $20.

The Futaba s3004 has these specs :
Speed: .23 sec/60° @ 4.8V
.19 sec/60° @ 6.0V
Torque: 44 oz-in (3.2 kg-cm) at 4.8V
57 oz-in (4.1 kg-cm) at 6.0V

There is a cheaper model but this one has ball bearings. It may not have steel gears or high torque but for a throttle servo you really don't need that. I would try replacing the servo before all the expensive radio equipment.

you should actually take the sf-2 servo out of your steering, and upgrade that one, if you have the funds. the extra $15 over a lower torque servo makes a big difference.

I replaced the servo with just a cheap Acoms one from my battery RC car. The full throttle problems are solved. But the breaking is almost non existant now though. One thing i did notice was when i had an incoming call from my mobile. The car which was standing still suddenly went full throttle. so a DX3 is needed after all:duh:
