My car started running really weird at WOT. It kept hesitating, then going back full throttle. I thought maybe I just had some tuning issue, or an air leak or something. Then it started getting really erratic - it would jump to full throttle with the trigger released. I thought maybe it was just low batteries, so I replaced all batts, radio and receiver. Same problem for a couple minutes, then everything went dead. LHS confirmed, dead receiver. They said it would take HPI 2-3 weeks to send me a new one, so I upgraded to a Futaba 3PM w/2.4Ghz. Wife's gonna kill me. :duh:

How's HPI's customer service? I'd like to get the bad one replaced and keep as a spare setup...

It could have been a bad crystal set. Do you have a fail safe installed too? But the upgrade will be good if you survive the Wife lol.
HPI customer service is great but I'm not sure what the policy is for electronic stuff.

You will be very very happy with the 2.4 3PM they are well worth the money. I run 2 of them along with my brother has 2 and we love all of them. We have had no issues at all.

HPIs CS is great. But if the glitching was caused by a bad bearing (or something else to do with the truck) than they wont see a problem unless you send the whole truck in. The stock radio is not worth the $30 you will pay for shipping and the 3 weeks you will be without your truck IMO.

It was money well spent on the Futaba 3pm 2.4GHz system. Overall, it's been a great radio, with absolutely no problems. As for the wife, let her know you could have spent $300+ on a radio, but didn't. lol Might help lessen the beating!

LOL, that would be her line. "Look how much I saved us buying all this stuff (we didn't need) on sale!".

In the end, no beatings, no groveling. She'd rather see me out tinkering than sitting in front of the Xbox :Xfingers:

Took the words out of my mouth. Stock radios are only good for throwing at friends, when they're beating you in the straights. Especially when you don't have a fail-safe on them.

The way to bring it to your wife is, "for the SAFETY of others"! I need a better radio. I don't want my truck flying into a sick puppy! haha LOL! :stickspank:
