All,

I just recently purchased my first savage 25 just a few days ago. I knew that the modelneeded some work and I finally started the savage and starts up just fine with no issues. When the truck engages the truck hit high rpm's and the throttle response is very slow and does not even move.
I know the tuning is similar to the maxx and revo's which I have.

Here is what I have done so far.

1- tore down the motor from the roto start to look for any loose connections.
2- removed the CB to verify the clutch is in 3 shoe clutch is intact with no issues
3-tighted the slipper clutch till dead stop and opened turned 1/2 counterclockwise from close position. HELD all the wheels down and turned the slipper gear and it turns with a little effort.

4- verified the gloplug is on working order +9 on the glow plug reader. I also verified that the header, pipe, and motor is tightened down for possible leaks.

5- bought new os-8 plugs & HPI purple pipe( I will try these when I place everything back on the chassis)

6- Now I will set all default settings due to the fact I am unsure if the motor is tuned lean.

7- 4 1/2 from HSN / 3 turns from closed on LSN / 2mm open on the idle screw. (I need some help in obtaing the best factory default settings on tuning the idle screw and LSN) PLEASE! 🙂 What settings shall I use to set on my radio before making changes to LSN/Idle screw?

If this is a tranny issue what shall I look for? (2-speed)

Thanks in advance!

Check to make sure your slipper clutch is tight. tighten it down all the way, then back it off 1/4 turn

Thanks! That's what I thought! There is more tension on the slipper now when all wheels suspended and turning the slipper. What do you think of the purple hpi pipe?

Yes all wheels turn no problem.

May I also have some tunning tip on this?

Tuning is really going to be something that is specific to your engine. Start at flush settings and work your way out in 1/8 turn increments after break in. As far as the pipe do you mean the purple polished or ribbed pipe?
