Radio/Reciever question

I recently got a Sanwa M8 with my brushless buggy, and it currently has a Novak synthesized switch on it.
My question is, is there an after-market receiver that I can get to drop in my Savvy and use the M8 with it?
I currently have the stock HPI TF4 with it.

Ok, well I did some further research and found i can get a Novak synthesized (100 channel) receiver for $70. (Same one I have in my buggy currently.) http://www.shopatron.com/product/part_number=2675/135.0.22399.0.0.0.0

My question is do I need the regulator? http://www.shopatron.com/product/part_number=5460/135.0
I only have a 4AA receiver pack in my Savvy, and am soon to upgrade to a 5cell hump pack.
