Quick-Mod to Roll Cage

Even before I purchased my Savage, I was researching every possible roll cage mod. xsavage3148 originally pointed one out on rcbasher.com which was pretty cool but I knew I wasn't going to be able to locate the plastic in time to get it on the truck. As of the other day while putting some parts on the truck including the stock roll cage, I noticed the plastics that I had lying on my bench from the wheelie bar. The plastic is somewhat similar to the roll cage. My mind suddenly kicks in to determination mode. I was determined to make something out of that plastic. Even if it was temporary. So I started cutting and pulling a part the pieces to see what I would be left with. The longest piece wasn't quite long enough for me to screw it on to the existing roll cage but I knew I could probably get away with tie wraps. Long story short, here's a few pics of a quick mod that I came up with to add some protection to the engine head. It even slides out of the way to accommodate the glow igniter. Not factory looking and probably won't win any contests but it should work. Feel free to copy!

have you tried it out yet? i don't know to me it seems kinda iffy whether or not it will take an impact. but if it works for you great

Like I said, it's was a quick mod. I cut the scrap plastic up in about 5 minutes. :chainkiller: On impact, instead of the cage compressing around the head, this crossbar should take some of the impact first.
