IMO, no need to spend your time sanding, it will come off as soon as those clutches engage the CB for the first time. I would recommend you scuff up and clean the inside of the cb before you install. good luck!

Yeah i agree with Allan, I have the HPI ones on my truck and didnt do anything and it ended up coming off any ways. After i did my break in i cleaned the truck once more and found the little shavings in the clutch bell. So i think you can do it eaither way.
