hi What are the proline 40 series ( i know they are wheels ) and do they need different hex nuts adn how many inches are they. and are they a good set of tires also how wide are they and will they fit on the standard hex nut of a savage 25 and X SS and are they heaviear than the stock 25. if so does it cause much more strain on the motor

Thanks:FarleyParty:

They don't all have different Hex's you can get them with 17mm or 23mm. The 40 series wheels are larger so this makes most of the tires to be a lower profile but not all of them are.

so how do you choose which one you want for 17 or 23mm hex nut and are they any heavier than the stock tyres on a savage 25 or XSS So will this cause more strain on the motor

The 40 series tires are also a smaller profile tire which cuts down on the sidewall flex.

Not necessarily. The LST2 runs 40 series rims with tires that are not low profile and there are a bunch of non low profile tires out there for 40 series rims. In general for the savage though tires for 40 series wheels are low profile but they still have a bigger diameter then maxx size wheels and tires. They also tend to weigh more. You can get similar top speed and acceleration with them by gearing down slightly.

I wasn't sure if the LST2 was 40 series or not

I like my 40 series and I don't mind the extra weight.

but does it put more strain on the motor and which ones should i gearing should i use for off road bashing

Thanks, Bill

It will put a little more stress on the drivetrain because of the extra weight and size of them.

I would try different gearings and find one that you like best. I never got to run 40 series with my S-25 but I don't notice a big loss with the K4.6

If you gear your spur and pinion down slightly to get the same final ratio you shouldn't notice much difference in acceleration or load on the motor. There still be an increase in load on the motor from the extra rotational mass of the wheels.

I am using 14/49 on my savage 25. My 3 speed tranny cant even hit 3rd gear now. Hence me buying a picco p3 28 next week. lol
