I have a savage XL 5.9, my clutchbell is 16t spur 52t STOCK. I put a picco .28 and custom end bleed pipe. This is my question.. Vs stock will a 16/47 from Robinson racing be a longer gear as in MORE top speed and LESS acceleration.
Stock 16/52 is 3.25
Robinson is 16/47 is 2.93
I get how to get the ratio... What does the ratio number mean? Lower the number the higher the acceleration and less top speed? PLEASE do not use the word "faster" because that can be applied to both scenarios! Aka faster acceleration? Faster top speed? It just adds to the confusion. After talking to a dude from robinsonracing who didn't answer all my questions, called me dumb indirectly, and was constantly cutting me off, the phone call left me more confused.

First welcome to HPISF @KaPlow23, glad to have you here.

Simply put a higher gear ratio means more torque and acceleration but lower top speed while a lower gear ratio means less torque but higher top speed.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys 🙂, I've been in the hobby for a couple years but nothing serious. This is my first day messing around with gears and such. Thanks a bunch guys!
