Hi guys new at the forum, Well I got my new savage x two weeks ago and broke it in by now. I've gone through 15+ tanks but I'm still getting oil out of my exhaust. I leaned out my high and set the idle. My truck is running around 225 - 235F because its so cold here in canada. I tryed to lean out the truck more but the smoke starts to dissaper and it cuts out at full throttle so I cant go any further. Should I be getting oil out of the exhaust or is there something I can do? Cheers!!

Yes you will get oil out of your exaust.......Its normal.........it shouldn't be pouring out but some is normal.

Don't worry about the oil.. BUT Don't lean your truck out to raise temps . THATS THE WORST THING YOU CAN DO .. in cold weather you need to run richer.. YEA RICH !!! the air is more dense in colder weather .. more air means more fuel.. put an old sock around the head to bring up temps

yes as hpi_savage25 said oil from the exhaust is normal and actually a good thing (engine getting lots of lubrication) and your temps are pretty well perfect so no worries!!!! nice to see a fellow canadaian basher!!! lol I'm in ontario!!!

AND WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, don't worry about oil running out of the exhaust. One of mine has been doing it since we had a cold snap. It doesn't effect the running of it a bit. I also think that is why I had so much trouble breaking in my new engine. It was pouring gas out like a pitcher of tea and still running. Also if you start bogging thats definitely getting to lean, which is worse than gas running out.

welcome piper,I'm in Montreal. I would tune it to the original settings and lean it out a little. For cold weather I usually use a hot glow plug, waterproof the air filter. I also warm the whole truck out, to warm up the engine and the plastic, the colder it gets the more brittle it becomes. As everyone said, it is very normal for some oil to come out the exhaust. Peace.

I've had my Savage X, for a year now. The best place for you to get some good quick advise, is right here on HPISF. I personally don't usually look anywhere else. read as much as you can there are a lot of threads that contain very valuable info, that wil help you now and with future issues you may encounter. Peace.

i like a bit of oil comming from my exhaused is shows thep is spare oil moving through the engine to help lubricate it.
