Nova Clutch Shoes pilot nut

I'm getting the nova clutch shoes with 1.0 mugen springs but i was reading and saw that i need a pilot nut is this true? and can i get these at my LHS

its the mugen pilot nut. part number c0704

You don't really need it .. but it has a deeper grove so the springs can set in it better
