Hello, I just recently picked up a Savage X 4.6, This is my first monster truck and first HPI RC. I have owned quite a few Traxxas over the years mostly on road or stadium trucks, but I have to say i'm very impressed with HPI so far.

Just a few quick question, The first may sound kinda dumb, lol. The SX comes with 8 shocks from factory. I'm wanting to upgrade shocks and from searching and reading around it seems alot of people recommend the Alum BB. I have placed and order for a set and what i'm wondering is do I only need 4 shocks since I'm swapping to the BB?

Also what other upgrades do people recommend? So far I have complete RPM A-Arm set and center skid plate. 1700 Mah, ONFA Hump Pack with new switch for charge lead. I know I really need to invest in a wheelie bar, I really didn't expect this thing to have that much power, lol. Right now i'm still running stock tires since they seem to be holding up well. which aftermarket tires are good for grass/dirt? Also i'm not a huge fan of roto start, on my traxxas vehicles I've always torn the ezstart off after breakin and tune and went to pull start. And I was thinking of swapping my X to pullstart but I can't seem to find a pullstart for it. The only pullstart I found that I think will fit is the HPI 1438.

welcome hevi

yeah, you only need 4 and they are a sweet upgrade.

you can go nutty and upgrade every part and spend a ton of money like a lot of us do or keep it close to stock and it will probably brake a WHOLE lot less.

the hump pack is a great upgrade and id also recomment a steer servo with metal gears and do the ofna throttle mod so you can get rid of the servo saver in the t/b servo.

99.9% of other upgrades are all personal preference/not anything you NEED to have a butt-load of fun runnin' that truck.

enjoy my friend & fire off any questions you have along the way.

HPI RSC Suspension Kit is a good upgrade if you want better handling, or atleast the sway bar kit as a cheaper alternative though you would need to mod the rpm arms to attach the sway bar.

sounds like your already headed in the right direction but i wanted to take the time to welcome you to the forum!!! but as far as tires go the hpi dirt bonz are a good choice which most will agree on,and alot including myself are running the proline badlands tires."i also run the dirt bonz at times and love them as well"
