I really like to keep everything where it is at and do a rear mid tank (just to protect the tank by moving it inboard. It would make pits very easy with the tank out in the open right in the bed. But there probably won't be room unless I actually have the tank custom made. I have been looking at a few tanks for other vehicles that may work though.

If I do the forward mid tank with the rear throttle servo, reciever, and battery box then I will use AutoCAD to draw up the box (It will be something real nice and functional like the stock forward box). Then I will use my connections back in IL to have it produced using the santa claus machine, and then shipped to me in CO. After I get it I will make a mold and the actual parts with a method similar to this:

I think it would be nice to design it so it will work on a regular ext chassis as well, but I won;t have one to work with. There might not be enough room behind the engine anyway. IF it would work on the ext and xl's then everybody could use the big 250cc tanks and not worry about a clean place for all their electronics (minus the steering servo of course).

Well, Here is what I have in mind for a rear radio box to hold the throttle servo, reciever, on/of switch, battery, failsafe (if needed) and the charger plug. I whipped this up last night on AutoCAD. The charger plug will use the hole between the servo and the body pin on the lid. The hole is the same size as stock and will use the factory rubber plug. It is obvious where the switch gets mounted. And the receiver will be mounted via tape or velcro to the underside of the lid. So basically one body pin and you can rotate the lid up and off and everything will be on the lid except the battery, which should be nice. Only thing left is some type of nifty hole in the bottom of the box for the two servo wires to come in, and a hole in the top for the antenna tube mount, which I think I would leave up to the customer cause all the receivers are different. I haven't designed the part to hold the charger plug, but it will end up being similar to stock. The whole box design has some issues and will need to be completely redrawn, I did this last night in my sleep basically, and now this morning I already see some stuff, haha. It will be mounted to the tvp's using the 4 screws through the existing holes that all tvps have, the 4 holes that are used to mount the fuel tank bracket things (should be obvious in the pics).

Any questions please ask.

This was designed for an XL length tvp, and I think it is too long fo the flm ext length (it should be into the shock tower/bulkhead stuff I think). However my plan s to simplify the the rear box portion, more of just a rectangle box with a easy off lid design. By doing so I hope to make it small enough to fit behind the flm ext length as well. Hard telling if there is even room back there though on an ext, I've never even seen one in person before. I'll need somebody to give me some dimensions.

Crap, I guess my screen shots were overlapping on stupid Paint. Doesn't look like you'll miss anything though.

stupid resizing on photobucket, it's gonna take me longer to resize than it did to draw the whole thing D'oh!... can I just post the link to the album instead 🙂 haha

Yep... way to close I think. That is what I noticed this morning once I was awake, haha. Back to the drawing board 🙂

I am sure I can get it to fit no problem though. At least on the XL length.

1/2" shorter is pushing it for that box... but, like we already decided it is a worthless sketch anyway. I'll make it all work. I think I'll wait until my tvp's get here though so I can have a real set to work with.

I think I may be the first person to get these... ever? I don't think anyone actually knew that FLM made them. I'm not saying they're cool because not to many people have them, actually they are probably not any good and that is why nobody has them, haha. Either way. I just wanted a beefy freakin tvp for bashing, xl length (I guess to try and get some stuff behind the engine), and the lcg would have just been a plus, so I opted for these.

I guess we'll see. I think they will be here monday. They shipped yesterday priority mail. If they are not any good, I figured they were only $45 and I can probably sell them for close to that on ebay, haha.

Hmm, good thinking, should have more control with the shorter chassis.

So I got another shipment in from tower 🙂 All I need now is the new parts from FLM, and I'll be good to go...

The blitz body looks Sweet on the XL length tvps and ofna offset wheel! No tire rub at all. I cut the body out where it was supposed to be cut too, no extra trimming.

Pics are coming, I have taken a few 🙂 I want to wait till the FLM stuff comes. I may even go ahead and mid tank it (even though I still think the half tank lean is a myth, haha). I like the idea of everything inside the tvps....

The first thing that happened way back on my first savage in like 2004, was the fuel tank broke. I was going mach 1 speeds and slid sideways into a sewer pipe cleanout (like and 8" PVC) that was sticking up out of the ground. It was a new house I was building, just playing after work. The fuel tank literally blew up, there was nothing left attached to the truck, haha. and the tvps were bent :-( There was fuel everywhere, I thought it might catch on fire, haha!
