I hate to throw a monkey wrench into everybodies all ready hard decision on which 2.4ghz radio to get (spektrum or nomadio) but, Futaba has a new surface radio coming out next year. It's a completely redesigned 3PK and it's called the 4PK and is 2.4ghz. I noticed it in a magazine the other day but it's too new for prices and features. Also, I couldn't find anything on the futaba website either, unless I'm just blind and couldn't see anything about it. I think I'm just gonna have to wait a little longer now before I get a new radio. My decision is gonna be mainly based on Rx size and construction. As of now, I still plan on getting the Spektrum DX3R. As soon as I find out more info the 4PK, I'll definately post up. I'll also get the mag and post which one it is so you guys can check it out for yourself.

One mag that has the new futaba 4PK is RC Driver. It's listed under their Christmas Wist List section. All I know so far about it is that it's a 4ch radio. I'll find out more later.

One thing about it, you should be able to pick up a used 3pk farely cheap then, which is an awesome radio. I picked mine up for 200.00.

No, it is fm with about ten different sets of crystals, but I just picked up the spektrum module for it since I was already running spektrum in everything anyways.

If you go to the Futaba site now and download their new brochure the 4PK is listed in there with specs ... or click this link to get it!

go to page 12 ...

Yeah, they have it listed now and so does Tower Hobbies. Price through tower is $499 or $599. can't remember but it sure was expensive, even though it's a 4 ch. remote and 2.4ghz.

tis a bit daft really isn't it ... would love to know if things like ABS are actually worth it for a truck. How on earth do they work anyway?

I think I'm decided on a Futaba 3GR 2.4Ghz version ... anything else seems expensive and total overkill for a bashing truck ... I'd LOVE a Futaba 3VCS but at £370 ($730) that is just plain ridiculous for a 3 channel system ... you can get complete heli systems for less ...

I'm not sure how well they work on trucks. I can ask my bash buddy if it actually works on trucks. He's using the futaba 3PK and it also has ABS. I know it works good in on-road cars. How it works, it's simple, works pretty much the same way as a real car's ABS works. What it does when you apply the brakes is it pulses the servo. And I believe you can adjust how the abs reacts when you apply the brakes, as far as pulse length, how strong it moves the servo, and the time between pulses. So, basically, it's like quickly moving your finger from neutral position to brake position extremely fast. Hope this helps.
