So i have had my HPI Savage X 4.6 almost ten months. I feel i broke it in properly and it ran great. Well , blew the motor, no big deal. I ordered a new SS motor off ebay. Received it and the new fly wheel and installed. I hate the pull start. Can i put a nitro start on this motor? I did the research but cant find part numbers or i just didnt look hard enough. Anyone guide me to some part numbers? I already have the starter gun(nitro) and wand, Just need the back plate i think? Thanks guys
 
Just to clear up any confusion. I replaced the Saxage X 4.6 RTR motor with a purple SS motor. This SS motor came with a purple pull start. My old motor (Gray) (RTR) came with a Nitro starter set up. Hope that helps any questions.
 
I tried that but the parts are different.

Which "SS" engine did you get? If it's from the X SS, then it is the K4.6. This has a different backplate and OWB setup than the F4.6 (which I assume you had due to using the nitro start). I have not seen a nitro start backplate for anything other than the F4.6.

Yes its a K4.6......Okay, so I'm stuck with the pull start? Thats fine and i appreciate your help sir!
 
I'm pretty certain I saw a thread recently that the gist of was that you could put a K4.6 nitro start set up on an F4.6. Which would lead to being able to swap them the other way?

The K4.6 never had a nitro start, only certain F4.6 models did. I would be interested to see evidence of what you are saying as the K and the F have completely different setups.
 
I did indeed misunderstand. The thread I mentioned was for converting from Roto-Start to Nitro Start. And I erroneously thought the Nitro Start was intended for the K4.6 on the SS.
