What's up guys? I have not brought my savage yet but wanted to know if I should break it in with the stock 2 speed first. Did not know if I would have a problem breaking it in with the 3 speed. I'm ordering the Savage SS kit. Also does the three speed come with the 3rd high speed gear or is that another option that has to be installed in the tranny? I posted a thread with questions about the 3 speed in the misc portion of this forum. Now that I have learned my way around I thought I'd start posting questions where they belong.

you can add it on the build with no issues. Get the kit and the 3rd HI speed gear. So much cheaper and not hard to put together at all.

So that assembled 3 speed transmission does not come with the 3rd Hi speed gear Ha. I was going to sell my 2 speed once I got the SS kit. I know the kit is cheeper. HMM... Will that 3rd Hi speed gear make a noticable difference from the stock 3rd gear that comes with the tranny? I might just as well get the kit and the 3rd HI speed gear like you said.

just dropped the h/s 3rd gear into the new 3 sp that i p/u 2 day.
one of the other bro's here can probably answer that question 4 you; i went from a 2 speed to a 3 speed with the high speed 3rd gear. the kit was $9.00 bucks so, after reading some posts decided to put in the hi speed gearing while the truck was apart instead of tearing it down again to add it.

although i can't make a comparison from a 3 speed to a hi-speed 3 speed i can tell you that going from a 2 spd to the hi-3 speed is quite impressive! definately worth the investment.
