Would love to speak to someone realtime just for s&g's.

Broke in my savage x last weekend without issue 8 tanks min. on tuesday i cooked the spur not a surpise since i really did not do any thing. have several on the way but.... on taking things apart the slipper pads are fused together.

I'm not a complete idiot but from the diag's looks like there should be two opposing pads kinda like sand paper. As an old hot rodder this would make sense. But these things are like one big paper goo.

I think when i see the new one it will make more sense but I thought I would throw it out.

All that being said, if I wanted to talk with someone who is willing, it would take a few seconds. How do you make those connections on this forum?

Thanks

I might be doing it wrong, but I always just glued the pad to the spur and did not put one on the friction plate. I run my slipper nuts tight, maybe off 1/16th of a turn. Hope it helps you. I am new to these forums and have no idea how the other feature works. Hope this helps you. I do have five Savages with big power.... Bud

There goes one now....

There is only one pad. It does look like reddish pink paper and not abrasive. It adheres to the back of the spur gear and that's it. Most of us here crank them down tight and allow no slip. I do for 1. You can talk real time in the shout box. Like A Instant messenger. If you need to call someone I will give you My # just ask for it in a PM Click my name then the link to PM me. :resp: ~Justin~

I also use blue thread locker on the nut... nothing quite like watching a pad and spur go up in smoke when the thing starts slipping under a heavy load. I have fried my way deep into the spur gear with a slipping pad. It leaves you a nice mess to work with. 8)

the thread locker will eat away the lock washer (then it lossens up)

I would replace the nut and don't use any thread lock

good luck
