Need some help

Is anyone using the integy spur gears. I went to the LHS (1 hr away) and i have now relized that half the people the work in these places have no **#$ing idea what they are talking about. so anyway i told buddy what i was running, and told me it will work. Now that is not the case. i am running a 3 speed trany out of an X savy. Now is there away i can make this work with out the $20 adaptor. thanks for anyhelp
