After my brother drove my Savage, he had to go out and get a truck. He made the mistake of buying a Tmaxx (I should say I let him make the mistake but at that time I was still new to the hobby). It has the 2.5 motor and almost a gallon of fuel run through it.
The problem is the truck is not engaging into drive. It is like it is jumping from neutral and forward, back and forth. It wants to go, but it is "catchy" on the gears or something. I've got three videos to show you the problem, hopefully we can get it figured out.

Here's the first video. I know the linkage is wrong so I adjusted it, but this video just gets you an idea of how it is idling: http://s210.photobucket.com/albums/bb261/dustrado/?action=view¤t=MOV00460.flv

This one it is just sitting in the grass and you can see it kinda jumpy: http://s210.photobucket.com/albums/bb261/dustrado/?action=view¤t=MOV00463.flv

And the last one you can see it accelerate (just about hit my dog! hard to steer and give throttle with one hand.): http://s210.photobucket.com/albums/bb261/dustrado/?action=view¤t=MOV00464.flv

If I member correctly there is something on the 2.5 transmission that makes it do that. The 3.3 Trans doesnt have this problem which is all I have experience with, Sorry.

Yeah, I was thinking it was somthing in the transmission but I pulled it apart and all gears looked ok.

Its not the gears its something else I cant remember. There is a fix for it but there is nothing wrong with it as its just how the trans was built. PS>I cant get your vids to work.

yes that is the way they are supposed to be .. believe it or not it is to to with the drive spagues i saw a post in another forum somewhere about modding that trans so it no longer does that.......but the best way to fix it is...... take out the glow plug... put it away and save it.. then replace the rest of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hmmmmm....that's interesting It is not like it used to be out of the box. It is really jumpy/catchy (i don't know the best word to describe it). Wish the links were working so I could show you what I mean.

I used the direct link code for the videos. Should I have used a different code? I'll try again.

Thanks. I had no idea this topic was recently discussed. I didn't figure many Savage guys mess with Traxxas stuff.

Hey zud, got to this post a little late. My son has a traxxas, first truck and new to hobby. I spend 3x as much time fixing his compared to my Savy. I did this mod, very easy to do, has some risk to it but made the bucking go away. It also shifts into reverse much easier.

Thanks. I'll probably do the mod. My brother never really got into it so I think i'll end up making the repairs. Now I just gotta get this darn thing tuned.
