Need help identifying savage

Hello everyone,

I’m new here, please let me know if I doing something incorrectly.

I bought a fairly used savage from a guy and it came with lots of spare parts. From what I can tell it seems this might be the savage x ss but I’m not entirely sure. I want to know what upgrades would be beneficial before dropping in a big block engine. Should I upgrade the drivetrain to modern savage x components? Also I wonder if there might be any missing parts, if there is any visible areas missing parts please let me know.

Any help is appreciated, I have done nitros before but I’m very new to the savage community.

Welcome aboard.

You do have a Savage X - whether it's an SS or not, I haven't a clue.
It really doesn't matter, Savages have a lot of forward / backward compatibility.
Any Savage X manual will work for you.
You can download them from hpiracing.com.

Upgrades at this point aren't necessary - you got enough stuff to procure to get it on the road.
What type of driving style are you looking to do - general bashing / big air / racing friends?

The tires don't look to be OEM Savage - but they look OK

Needs (which you may or may not already have in your spare parts):
Engine / exhaust header (+ spring) / pipe / flywheel / clutch / clutch bell
Engine mount
4 4mm fine thread allen head screws for the engine plate (ties the plate to TVP's and 4 more for the engine mount)
3mm fine thread allen head screws to affix the engine to the mount
Receiver
Battery Hump Pack
Fuel tank
Exterior fuel tank mount (sometimes you need 1 part - but gotta buy an entire tree to obtain it)
Throttle linkage post - (may or may not be part of above tree)
Throttle linkage
Plastic battery/receiver cover
I can't see enough of the right side to tell, but the wire/spring that ties down the pipe to the post

Personally, I would trash the SF-1 throttle servo and replace it with the current steering servo (guessing it's an SF-2) and replace the steering servo with something stronger.
