Need Help Finding 5.9 Engine Parts

Well I got the piston sleeve set back from RayAracing . Put the engine back together , and put it on the shelf as a spare . Feels just like new when you spin it over bye hand . Lots of pinch !! I’ll dig out the old start shaft and see if I can make one . Forget about it .

i recommend using a caliper to make sure of the hex size, they used 2 12 and 14 mm on the hex part of the starter spool

All the big block pullstart housings are the same bolt pattern, the only difference is in the hex and shaft sizes

True, just want to confirm if this will work because for example the F version of this engine has a bigger hex right? Thanks again for the help

Get a 12mm starter shaft, I got a couple for my K5.9s from

Then you can run standard 12mm Roto or Pull Start.

I got one of those starter shafts.
unfortunately the pull start broke the first time I used it.

when I try and remove the shaft from my K5.9, it only comes out about 1cm and then is stuck.
no matter of pulling will remove it.

- any one any ideas on how to remove please?
- does this new shaft have a OWB on it?

the problem with the stock HPI one is that the OWB is .5cm down from the top -this means all generic back start plates need to have a hole put in them to allow the shaft to extend.

I love my K5.9 - no matter what anyone says.
I cannot believe that I'm gonna have to replace it because some shoddy part has damaged it.

I just got my k5.9 back a few weeks ago after it sat for 11 years while cleaning it up and get it running again here’s just a few things I found wrong with it the mid range needle/screw leaked so got a used carb from a friend and it took some time to get it tuned in however i just noticed that they put 2 different style of rims on it
