That is there so that part can be used for either side... saves a bit of money in having spares, as for the rest if the toe keeps changing then thats another can of worms to address....I suspect you are talking about slop in the system which can be dealt with several ways.... I look forward to your unique solution to the problem....

There is slop in the system, but it pulls in one direction at one speed and another direction at another speed. I may go through and freshen it up plus do the traxxas link swap.

It'll have to wait, I crashed my wife's lx2e and broke the entire right side, including the diff housing. My butt is still sore from the reaming she gave me.

Ah...I know what your referring to now dfish!!
Those front knuckles axle carriers,...yes they have 2 arms sticking out of them one in front and one behind. The adjustable ball links go to the rear arm for steering. The forward arm is left as is with nothing in it. If your wondering which side I screw the steering links to...I have mine on the bottom of that arm.

Toe in/out will be adjustable with the 2 ball ended rod which goes from the knuckle to the steering ackerman. This Rod should be threaded on both ends where you thread on the plastic ball links. These adjust the toe in/out. The only thing the stock Savage cant adjust is camber unless you get an adjustable upper suspension arm.

If you still have alot of toe in...then check those knuckles, uprights, the lower suspension arms and hinge pins. Are they warped or bent from a bash/crash? the Plastic skid plate tends to warp and allow the hinge pins to slide out if unchecked. If a pin slides out the suspension arm may not be slotted into the bulkhead properly.

Took care of camber, oh dear lord was the steering sloppy inside, way better now. Banded the tires as well. Oh, I did get a couple traxxas steering rods to go in the steering links, I like the fact of the cup popping off the ball vs breaking. The traxxas rods give the adjustability without popping off an arm.

Been a while, well I gave up on 12mm hexes, stripped out the wheels from the grip the tires have and went to 17mm(m2c racing) hexes. I also ruined the idler and got a hot racing idler. For the wheels, I'm using 1/2 offset ofna 3.2'' in the duratrax tires, a pita to fit in there, but make the tire look better and more flat. The steering is turned down slightly so it doesn't rub, but I'll sacrifice that for better wheel setup. This truck is still a monster, especially when you put buggy slicks on it and do some drifting, very fun.

The deal with the wheels is that the junfac wideners are just ever so slightly smaller than the wheel hex, I may have been ok with brand new wheels and epoxy, but junfac's are meant for crawlers, not speed demons. So, it is what it is.
