Hey, that truck looks fantastic. That is a really clean setup, that upgraded suspension looks. like it gives a really wide stance and good steering. Could you tell a big difference?
I think the tires make it look wider than a stock SAVAGE. The HPI suspension kit is the normal width - same as any other SAVAGE. The shocks make the difference. Not only do they work great, they make the truck look bigger.
As for seeing any difference between my suspension setup and a stock HPI setup, I couldn't tell you. I built this truck with the suspension you see in this thread. I never ran the stock SAVAGE suspension even once ... I didn't even bother to build the HPI shocks, LOL!
nice build sweet body you did a great job on this one. keep up the good work. you got into a great truck. i see you have the k4.6 motor you will love it they are great. if you are looking to get into an awsome pipe to really wake the k4.6 up look at bukupower.com that is an awsome pipe do some reading about it. alot of guys run it on here including me. you will not be dissapointed.
welcome to the site.
If you look at the later photographs, you will see that I have ditched the K4.6. Actually, the K4.6 fell apart on me. The mid speed needle kept unscrewing itself. I eventually just sealed it into the carb body with silicone. That worked great, but the piston skirt fell apart soon after that.
I then moved to an STS .30 version 2. That engine had a few problems as well. I must say this about STS, though. I sent it back to STS in Tiawan. They replaced the one-way bearing and the piston & sleeve under warranty. They did right by me. I am thinking about getting a truggy (MUGEN MBX5T) in a few months, so I may run the engine in that come spring time. We'll see how it holds together...
I am now running an RB Concepts TM928 engine. I am very happy with this engine. Sick power!!
When I bought the TM928 I also picked up the Vantage carbon pipe. The hobby shop I bought the engine from (Crispy Critters) suggested the pipe, so that's what I went with. The first one cracked near the header coupler. I sent it back to Vantage. They replaced it ... no questions asked. They didn't even ask for a receipt! The second pipe is running great. I have abused it far more than the first pipe, so I think the problem with the first pipe was with the way that particular pipe was built. It must have had some kind of manufacturing flaw. The pipe sounds great, too ... Nice & Loud!!!
I have been following the threads on the Bu-Ku pipe. Maybe I'll give one a try this spring.
Thanks for looking everyone!
