LMFAO - oohhh, man ... I didn't run my own SAVAGE over, HAHAHA!

Here's what happened ... the battery plug didn't fit tightly with the plug on the on/off switch. The vibrations caused by the engine just made things worse - High speed -> high vibration -> no battery power to receiver -> no power to servo's -> runaway condition -> attempted merging of Flowmaster & SAVAGE! LOL!!

Since all power to the receiver was lost, the fail safe could not function either.

I'm glad to see you are up and running again. Bigger and better than ever. Thanks for the update.

I wish I could have gotten my hands on one or pro-lines VW's............they had some licensing problems with it.

nice truck, don't think I ever seen quad losi shocks, totally insane. Oh by the way the muggy shocks are a quarter inch shorter than the aftershock. The shock shafts are. How does the sts push the savage?

crusader, got a question for you. I'm runnin the sts 28 in my savvy, and one day this week I'm gonna start drivin it now that it's all fixed. I'm also runnin with the 3 speed and haven't got it adjusted yet. I was wondering if you could let me know what yours is set at to give me a ballpark range on where mine needs adjusted. Just tryin to save some adjusting time. Also glad to see you got your truck back up and runnin.

Wow man, I wish I knew for certain. I started with everything set as per the "HPI SAVAGE 25 Update Instructions". Here's a link to the document:

SAVAGE 25 UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS

They specify that the 1-2 clutch screw should be 3 1/2 turns IN and that the 2-3 clutch screw should be 3 1/4 turns IN. I have since moved BOTH screws OUT in order to get earlier shifts. I think the 1-2 screw is 1 full turn out from the start point now. That would make it 2 1/2 turns in. I think the 2-3 is out 1 1/2 turns OUT.

What size tires are you using? What gearing are you running? These two things have a BIG effect on how the truck shifts. I am running 14/52 gears and 7" tall HPI Goliaths.

some people have way too much money to spend
but i love it

:moon: Ouch! Don't be such a hater! :hardlaugh:

Wait 'till I wear out this STS engine ... my next engine is gonna be a NOVA ROSSI! Maybe two ... My LHS is going to open a nice track next spring. I'm getting an 8T to race there :whipit:

I'm also wanting a Kyosho EVOLVA REEEEEEAAAALLL BAAAAAD!!!

hmmmm, can you say 528. better hope you have your diffs shimmed perfect. that motor will find every weak link. have you had one yet. insane power. as far as the 8t, I was thinking about getting one to. looks like a great truggy

Update time!

Earlier in this thread I made mention of Proline's VW Bug shell. Well, I finally got around to finishing it up.

Also, fwiw, the STS 30 v2 I HAD been running is now on it's way back to Tiawan. I had all the usual issues with that engine ... leaking front bearing, the one way bearing went south on mine as well and the carb was, well, finicky.

Anyhow, I sprung for a RB 928 and a Vantge carbon pipe. I've got about 1/2 gallon on it so far. Very nice engine.

Actually, I got TWO of them, heh heh heh 😎

The second one will be a straight Red Baron paint job. Anyone remember this old model car kit?

I'm working on something else right now though ... stay tuned!

Someone asked about the tires. They seem to be fine. On the other hand, I've NEVER run any other tire on this truck, so I have nothing to compare them to, lol.

Thats a flash from the past, for sure! I had built that same model a long, long time ago. God I feel old now.lol I've got one of those bodies and didn't know they were discontinued, Maybe I shouldn't have bashed it all up. oh well.lol

Here's that "something else" ... this was going to be a "Mini Me" for my 1:1 1970 K10, but things went another way.

Everybody digs Quentin Tarantino, right?
