i've heard so many people say use the nova clutch shoes and a mugen 1.0 spring!! i know were to get the nova 3 shoe clutch but were would i go about finding the mugen springs?

Mugen 1.0 springs on nova shoe are "teh sex". I just made that up, I'm sure the phrase will catch on eventually.

The mugen nut puts less of strain on the spring with the groove height moved. When I put my first set of mugen springs on I didn't change the nut and I busted two springs in five tanks and my nova shoes got crooked in the clutch bell and toasted them. I think it's due to the fact the mugen 1mm springs are so stiff that the extreme angle of the spring on the factory hpi nut is just too much for it too handle.

Correct. I've trashed many 1.0 springs using the HPI nut.

cool thanks for the info guys, i think when i order the nova shoes and mugen spring i'll get the nut your talking about to!! again thanks this is truly one of the best forums around for quick replies and for friendly atmosphere!! so my respect goes out to everyone here and a special thanks to the moderators for keeping it that way!!

Yeah I got my springs and nut from amainhobbies. I picked up a heap of other stuff at the same time though but they have them. They are really cheap items and well worth it. I had a look at how the mugen springs would work on the hpi nut and as far as I could see, they wouldn't.

Here is a good example of what your springs should look like. This is actually a ofna nut (11mm long, hpi 8.5mm long) that I ground down to the exact length that I wanted that way I don't run any shims except for the steel spacer between the outer bearing and purple hellfire retainer. Notice how perpendicular the spring is not bent at all causing alot of unneeded strain on the spring. ofna part #http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNUM6&P=7
