Hi guys i am looking at getting another set of tyres for my xl soon.I don't want to go max size or 40 series.I want to keep the truck with the same diameter tyres but there doesnt seem to be alot in xl size out there.I think that the MGT8.0 tyres are the same diameter as the stock xl Terra Pins. Can anyone confirm this and if they have ran them how do they perform? Thanks.

i havnt seen the mgt tires on a xl savage but i have seen them run on a mgt and they suck the sidewalls roll over easier then the stock savage x tires creating alot of roll overs

Thanks for the reply mickey.I will gice the mgt ones a miss then and look for others.

how about the new losi xxl tires they look nice

I think they will be to heavy.I have a lst2 aswell and the tyres and wheels on that are very heavy.I am starting to think about 40 series wabash's with mulchers as i only run on grass?

a guy i run with has a MGT thats all stock and the tires are huge but they do have a massive amount of sidewall flex and it rolls over constanly. just my .02

Thanks Wildchild. The mgt tyre idea has totaly gone out of the window now. After jer0219 said about the losi xxl tyres i thought i would fit my lst2 wheels and tyres to my xl(only as a mock up as obviously the hexes don't fit)and i have to say that it looks very good. They are virtualy the same height as the xl tyres so it wouldnt affect the gearing. Its a pity i cant mod the hexes as buying 23mil hexes, wabash wheels and some new tyres works out expensive:dmt:.

Why not go for maxx size mulchers? Theyre lighter and cheaper than the 40 series version? Just put a set on mine on 1/2" offset rims and they bite brilliant on grass, wet and dry.

Also if you go for 40 series wabash's youl need 23mm hex adapters, unless you can find the 17mm hex version in the UK (i couldnt) they did make them but now discontinued them.

I bought the proline XL 23mm adapters for my wabash wheels, and they just wouldnt sit on the XL axles squarely no matter what i did to them and and made them run like badly buckled bicycle wheels lol as far as i know proline is the only company that makes 23mm adapters for the XL axles and they don't fit properly.

Thanks for the info mate.Funnily enough i was just reading your operation savage thread again about your 23mil proline adapters lol.I was looking for the 17mil wabashes myself earlier and couldnt find any either.Je spares have them down as avaliable to order but if they have been discontinued then they wont be able to get them.I know what you mean about the max size being lighter as i just weighed the xl and losi wheels and tyres and the losi wheel and tyre is 102g heavier than the xl one!!I do like the big fat look tho.

Yea i like the look of the 40 series, for looks i don't think they can be beaten, but anything 40 series is gonna be heavy.

I searched high and low for 40 series wheels in the Uk and the only ones i could find in stock available to buy were 14mm hex 0 offset, that seems to be all proline make now in 40 series other than the chrome ones and theyre 14mm hex too i think, sent modelsport, wheelspin, jespares and apex emails with no luck, you cant even get 23mm proline velocity dish 40 series anymore, yet they still make 23mm maxx size wheels lol i ended up buying my wabash's from a US eBay seller, and i just sold them with my big joes on MSUK with only 1 5min run on the rims.

Looks like the wabash idea is going to have to go out of the window aswell then:shocked:.I will try a few more shops to see if there is any 17mil ones left anywhere. The 4 shops you mentioned are the 4 shops i always check when buying stuff here in the uk.I know another couple i can look at but if not it will be ebay in the us if i can find any there. If not i am sure i read somewhere about losi hexes being modded to fit.Where i read it i don't know and it might of been a few years ago so i doubt if i will find it.

I have the mgt 4.6 tires on my savage x that i converted to the xl all i can say is don't DO IT!!!!! it sucks there heavy and they flex and balloon handles crappy!! I did put the savage x stock tires on my mgt and i like it for now!! and when i had big joes 40s on my savage x i went through diifs quickly (pinion, bevel) just my 2 cents worth.

Thanks for the diff warning guys.I still want to try some 40s and have been looking at the axial 8 spoke white wheels which come with 17mil hexes.I know you had problems with your Axial beadlocks Londoner but what do you guys think of the ones i mention above?

I very nearly bought a set of the Axial 40 non beadlock rims the black chrome ones, if the hexes are anything like the hexes in my beadlock rims then they wont last much more than a gallon, the plastic is way to soft and weak.

The front hexes went first from wheelying, my son blips the throttle to keep the front up and that hammering on the hexes killed them in no time at all.

This is exactly the same dilemma i was having a few weeks ago lol

Hmmm they don't sound to good either thencornfused.I have found a shop that still lists the 17mil wabashes but the website doesnt have live stock levels and would of been shut by the time i saw them so i will give them a ring tomorrow.I don't actualy mind the xl's standard tyres, its the wheels i don't like.It seems a waist of money to buy another set of terra pins and then a set of white dish wheels just so that i can have white wheels:stressed:.If the tyres were bald it would be ok but they are virtualy new.Maybe i should run it up and down the road a few times to bald them.lol

Lol yea, give yourself an excuse to buy a new set.

Some people havnt had any problems with the Axial 40 series rims, even the beadlocks, but mine were just a major ballache from the start.

That would be sweet if that shop has the 17mm wabash rims.

The shop is www.dms-racing.com not sure if they will still have them and normaly when you phone and ask for somthing and they arnt sure if they have them in stock or not they phone you back about 3 days later to let you know!!

Cool, yea i see them listed.

40 Series Velocity dished monster truck wheels - white or yellow (TMaxx, Savage, MGT etc) PL2669 £11.50

I don't know what hex these ones are but may be worth asking about if they havnt got the wabash wheels, but theyre probably the 14mm hex ones.
