hey i noticed the other day when i was putting new tires on that there is alot of play in my steering setup... its a factory rtr25. it seems the like the servo is shot. anyone have this problem??

It may not be your servo. I had a lot of slop in my steering, and a lot of it was coming from the steering arm. I read this thread..
https://www.hpisavageforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8087

I took the steering arm from my son's Tmaxx and put it in my savy and a lot of the slop is gone, Still have a little bit from the drag link but there was a big improvement.

On another note, ave you put bearings in the steering posts? Will not do much for the slop, but does make the steering a little smoother. here is a link to the bearings:

ok, well here is a top view of my wheels as u can tell one is def toe'd out

.
hey tacoma, nice savage. where in MA are you? there are a bunch of us in the billerica, chelmsford, fitchburg, chelsea area that hook up to bash... you close by?

I'm actually out near springfield. exit 8 on the mass pike. i used to go to school in norwood ma though. maybe sometime i take a trip out there. my s/n on aim is partsguy901

Another guy from MA well welcome I'm the above mentioned Fitchburg. To bad your not a lil closer to the crew... Adjust the steering tie rods out for that toe issue. That is if thay are adjustable.. if not we can go from there..

wow that makes sense... here i am a graduate of the number one automotive school and an ase cerfied parts specialist. you'd think i would've known that and tried already huh? haha but that still doesnt fix the play in it lol

Chelmsford, Ma guy and gal here! Like Bank said adjust the steering rod on that side via that lil toy wrench HPI gives you. Should suck the tire right in. Once done turn on your radio and make sure the tires are where they should be.

Ill go see what it is.. as far as the play move things around and see what parts move and what don't. start at the servo horn, linkage saver or bell crank, tie rod ends etc at some point you will see the play. Also if all that is tight it could be at your axle most of the time a shim between the pin and the bearing solves this play.

i had my servo on my savage 4.6 kill one of the gears inside strip 🙁 is this common fault or am i just unlucky?
whats a good upgrade
