Hi all,

I'm looking around for roll bar options for my Savage X. The roll cages are cool, but I'm not into spending ~100.00 for that.

I'm running a near stock X with a LRP .28 Spec 3 mill with a pull start, the stock roll bar does not afford much room.

any ideas?

Cheers,
Leslie

leslie check out this 1 from new era models. they have a couple different designs that will work.
http://www.neweramodels.com/item.cgi?session_id=&part_id=3139 its strong & light.

i lucked out & won it for $10 on ebay. have yet to try it but i like it cuz it hides right under the truck body.

company is right in Nashua so you could prob stop by there & check things out.

That one does not seem to cover the cooling head. And if you buy both then ur up to $100. Plus it's metal And they really get messed up in a bad crash.

thx for pointing that out kvn. you wouldnt run both with this model. by design the bar is higher than the cooling head so if the truck rolls over, the bar & rear shock tower will contact the ground while the cooling head is protected safely below.

As far as being metal? good luck bending it, its tough. My TVP's are Metal and not even close to the thickness of my cage or roll bar & they've never gotten messed up in a crash.

here is my US Custom Cage. Its Metal. i weigh 185# & i "jumped" on it (almost busted my shock towers) but not a scratch on the cage. Shawn can also show you a vid where it gets run over by a full-size monster truck with no damage.

sorry for the long-winded reply in your thread Leslie, imma big fan of tuff cages provided they fit under my truck body (personal preference). There is a link to US Custom Cages in my siggy you can take a peek at also. Theyre made by 'drummerguy101' here on the site & he is a great guy to do biz with.

Did not realize that you only have to run one. Not to familiar with their roll cage. As to metal verse nylon, everyone has their preference.LOL.
But thanks for that info, it's good to know.

keep the ideas coming, I appreciate it.

frddyj, that link to ebay was great, only I have a savage X and it noted that it did not fit an X, doh!

Cheers,
Leslie

sorry bout that leslie. dint scroll all the way through but I'm wonderin what the difference is caz it looks identical to mine. if you were interested i bet you could call new era & ask em about it.

here's a question for ya though: what type of bar/cage are you interested in?

shoulda asked you if you like to run your savage with the body on or off? makes a big difference in what is available to you.

1 more point to consider...

i have lcg tvp's so the mill & tranny sit 1/2" lower than on stock tvp's so the mill is very well protected by bar & shock tower/body post.

2 weeks ago it slid down the street about 100 feet (& i about had a heart-attack caz the picco was in it at the time) but, not even a scratch.

again, there are many great options out there, most comes down to personal preference.
