Hello, new to forum have a couple of questions about use of 2s lipos,
I have recently got the savage flux yet to run it waiting on reciever for my spektrum radio and trying to figure out what LiPo's to go with, in the mean time I have a pair of 5000mah 20c 3s and a pair of 4000mah 25c 2s(from my brushless 3905 emaxx) after reading post I know to stay away from the 25t pinion with these but will I be safe with the 20t pinion packs are each 100amps constant,,,
I'm not in it for the speed just bashing and not wanting to tear diffs up and burn up the esc, what do you think?
Also is there any parts I should stock up on?

Thanks Gixxer

The diffs will go out much faster with the 6s setup. I already went through two gears in the center gearbox using a 6s setup.

I would start with the 4s and go from there. Everyone that runs the 4s says it still has PLENTY of power. I recomend getting some better quality hex's as the stock ones suck. Other then that, just replace as necessary.

A buddy of mine has a pair of reedy 5000 2s 20c packs he said he would sell me (good price) and I know everyone says to use 25-30c packs but I'm assuming there meaning when running 6s correct? This would be a 4s setup with stock 20t pinion sounds ok?

My buddy runs a set of 4000mah 3s packs and have been fine with them. They are only 20c and is running the 20T pinion. Everything seems to stay cold. I agree the 2s set is fun and has very good power and probably to much for most. I tend to like the 3s on this heavy truck to get the extra power from it. I have also run the BL E-Revo with both and like the 3s on it as well but I'm a power hungery guys. Like stated I would start with the 2s packs as it gives more than enought power to enjoy. Expecially if you just going to bash it and not do high speed runs.

Correct you want higher C ratings on the 3s packs. 2S i believe are fine. I deffinetly recommend no skimping here as well. I have a set of SMC 5200mha 40C's that I will be running in my E-Savage build in signature. I recomend SMC LiPos for you as they are top of the line and very very nice packs.

What I get from topics elsewhere with Castle Creations employees is that for a 6S set-up, you MUST use at least 5000Mah 30C 3S batts. You want 150A continuous output minimum.
It's not because of power, but because the ESC runs braking current back into the batts, and they have to have enough capacity to absorb it.

Yea you know what back in 1996 I bought the hottest esc on the market with the all new capable of regenerating current esc dubbed the Tekin G9, I think it may of been first of it's kind, you know what I still have it sits in old xxt losi, sorry for the blast back in time just interesting how far things have come yet somethings were already ahead of there time!

Ok I've been running the Reedy 5000mah 2s 20c's for a couple of days now and all I can say is wow! the truck has been amazing I have had not a single problem unless you count the abuse the body has seen as damage, and it has more power than I expected on 4s,
The only thing that stinks is after reading on multiple forums the problems people have been running into on 6s I regrettably already ordered 3s packs and now feel no real need to even run them hence power from 4s has been great plus I don't feel like chewin diffs and trannys up I bougtht this to replace my BL 3905 maxx to be run as a basher in the hopes to not be spending more time repairing then runnung like I did with the maxx.
As of now I'm happy and think I'll stick with running 4s setup at least I didn't spend a fortune on the 3s packs I went with a pair of Zippy Flightmax 5000mah 30c and a pair of zippy 5000mah 2s 20c, oh well I'll ebay the pair of 3s and run the 2s Zippys along with the Reedys, anyway very happy with the truck so far glad to have made the switch back to Hpi,,,
