Running a picco .28 on savage XL, 2 speed tranny. 18/48 gearing. Everytime I run truck the clutch bell gear gets wiped. I put new bearings in the clutch bell and it still wiped CB gears after 10 minutes of running.

any ideas? worn out clutch shoes?

oh, okay bud i was wondering what you meant by 'wiped' in the shoutbox & i think you mean stripped after reading here. how are you setting your gear mesh; clutch bell & spur gear?

All the teeth (gears) are stripped off. I am running a robinson racing matched set 18/48 (hardened steel). I set the mesh with a thin piece of paper. CB and spur are parrell to each other as well.

The spur gear is fine.

i had the same problem every time i put that spur on went back to plastic its much cheaper to replace than the clutchbell my spur looks good to but every time i put it on it strips the cb right away. id switch back to plastic and set the slipper youll never have a problem again.

You have to use a hardend CB with the metal spurs. Make sure your LHS gives you the right one. Get a Robinson one and you'll know for sure.

yep savage man is right. i had the same probs with the hpi steel spur. lhs just kept selling me the "hardened clutch bell". so i did some research and found that you need the racing clutch bell (the vented one) from hpi. i have never had a problem since
