well i ordered an axial .28 as my .21bb is getting tired so i wanted to know what to do to it before i get it? and i plan to run O.S. number 8 plug and hpi filter the one for .21 sized engines. like the stock hpi savage limited edition one and a stock savy pipe. and i will be running 20% fuel with 12% oil. it ran good in my trx 2.5 and in my .21bb for about 6 gallons until some dirt got into it and it has gotten tempermental since then. doesnt like to hot start and i have to wait till it cools down. and i am going to gear it 14/52 and if is to many wheelies I'm going to go up to 14/47. so anything to do before i run it? i paid 119 for it on tower.so any help would be cool.

man this is a funny one :sadd:

Do yourself a favor and look up the thread on sealing an engine before you ever think about putting that mill in your truck:coolone:

ok, this is the recommended set-up according to the forum Axial guru's...

THS pipe designed for the Savage
30% (although I'm breaking mine in on 20% then moving to 30%)
I forget which plug though...

according to megabyteme, that shouldn't be a problem...the only reason I'm breaking mine in with 20%, then switching to 30, is because I have a brand new, unopened gallon of 20 sitting on my shelf...there's a thread on here about switching from one percentage to another...the only thing you have to do when switching from one to the other is adjust your tuning accordingly...

and according to xjeepguy (forum mod/axial guru) the THS pipe really brings out the axial's power...but I know how the fundage part goes...I spent just under $115 shipped and insured for my Ax .28 and a bit over half of that just on the pipe...

we do what we can, when we can...

it finally came in!!! it is all nice and stuff kinda shame for it to get really dirty but i did notice that the piston is stuck some where because i tryed to pull the starter cord and it wouldnt go! so I'm gonna chack it later and see what is up. hopefully it isnt the pinch because it is alot!!! and i was wondering if the jp3 pipe is any good on the savy's?

I have 2 axials ..and dureing break in the both seized on me!! I was idleing them for 6-8tanks without shutting them down..with my sts I did (10) 2 minute intervals..letting it cool to 80f with the piston at "bdc"..now that Ive figured out how to tune it ..well its much better then my 1st ..so make sure you seal it and if its actin up..check your high speed needle 0-ring ,mine tore and caused me many prob's..the mid range starts to walk also ..I rtb'd mine on both ..besides that ..you have the fastes motor for the$$$$ but it wont last as long as a OS..

well as long as it last more than 5 gallons ill be happy. cuz i think my .21bb has 3 gallons on the factory piston and still preforms really good but sincei have a new engige I'm going to take the .21bb out and give it some tlc and port and polish it and see if i can make it a screamer!!!!

another thing make sure you run a steel spur gear with the .28 cause it will shread plastics ones lol i just total stripped one running in the middle of the street the other day

man i just bought the spider gear conversion too i could have gotten a spur. but i have a spare 47t one. so far i finished break in and i need to tune it and i have leaned it out alot and still sucks on performance. it sealed too but i think it is overly rich from the factory but it might be that the low en is too rich. On another note my piston got stuck at tdc like 4 times!!!!! it sucked i had to take the head of to get it un-stuck. but i figured out that if i heat it up to 240 degrees it wont be that bad and as soon as it turns on it cools down to 190. so so far its going great and it seems like its gunna scream. plus parts havnt broken yet but it does guzzle down the gas though.

i have the 28 and i have found that the best nitro to run in it for me is blue thunder 20% it runs harder with that . I have ran it all and i like the bt it smokes allot but it runs cooler to and yes factory setings are way to phat i ran mine almost all the way in to get it to thin out . Good luck with it bud !

I run with the same fuel deffinatly runs cooler and runs great with it. :10:

oh good i thought i might braek it or something I'm running a fuell with the same specs as blue thunder. i used to use it as i got it from a shop like 3 blocks from my house. i got it at 18 bux a gallon for race blend but then the man closed the track and shop down and now i am stuck buying cheaper more expensive fuel.

wow !!! its not just me..man was I pissed when that happened ..I think the key is to break it in like the pro's do ..I couldnt keep mine cooler then 260f for the 1st gallon..then got it tuned ..its been mint ever since

yeah thats what i meant; a nitro with lesser quality in the ingredients but it is more expensive. i guess thats why i failed english 015:dunno: . and no i don't have the axial .28 rr spec 1s . if i could have gotten it i would have as i see that it preforms way better than the axial .28 (in power). but i havnt bee able to finish tuning because my glow starter took a dump on me and I'm not sure if its DOA or just low on battery. thanks alot for the help and reccomendations on parts. it really helps alot.
