I can get it to start but sruggle with it, and once it's started I can get it to tune fairly well where it'll run great for a short while (maybe 10 minutes if I'm lucky) then it starts to run poorly and I can't get it to tune, and when it stalls it doesn't want to start again. So is it just me and a lack of experiance, or are the .21s a pain to tune? Is there another stock motor (4.1, 4.6, etc) that is easier to tune?

Also what would it take to convert over to a brushless set up but retain the sam power and speed of the nitro?

As is I'm ready to sell this thing. I'm tired of not being able to run and enjoy this truck. When I do get it to where it runs good it's alot of fun but it don't last more than a few minutes. Something either breaks or it gets outa tune and runs like crap.

It depends. If you have a heap of money to blow go brushless, you won't regret it and it will dominate any nitro. I would say though that a new engine probably would help and be a lot more stable (as long as it's sealed). Nitro is always going to take a lot of work to keep it running well though. I think brushless is the way to go but the initial cost is steep.

If it runs for 10 mins that's probably about half tank right? Maybe try tuning it then, at half tank, and it hopefully will run ok full and empty...it's worth a try. Oh yea and nobody likes a quitter!!!:whipit:

When you say running crappy, can you explain in a little bit more detail. Does it bog off the line. Does it bog on the top or is it running raspy. How old is the motor.

Sounds to me like you need some practice tuning. It's going to be a pain to learn how to tune properly there's no way around that.

Well Basicly i'll get it going, and it goes great. Tons of power, crisp throttle responce, has plenty of smoke at top end. But then it just starts to loose power, bogs down like its either too rich or too lean. It almost seem like it's too lean, like there ain't enough fuel, but it smokes plenty. When I try to lean it or richen it, it gets worse and then just stalls. And it won't restart untill it sits for a while. Almost like it gets too hot and don't want to start. And normall when it start to run crappy after runnin good for a while, it smokes even more and you can't really even be near it cause the fume burn you eyes and sinuses bad. But when its like that and you lean it, a snap of the trottle it stalls. basicly it sounds and acts lean, even get hot like it's lean, but smokes and smell way rich and uses alot of fuel in a short time.

I'll openly admit that I am new to nitros and don't know how to tune an engine. I will in my own defense against that statement say that I do know the basics of tuning but have not aquired the skill as of yet to do it. and I do know the only way to learn is to keep at it. But when I go over to my parents to visit I can get a pretty good tune on dads trucks (MGT & Jato) and we run them for several tanks with no issues. But my savage, I just can't get it.

Now one otherthing I've been thinking of here on this .21, is there are 3 adjustment screws, high speed, low speed, and middle. Now in the manual it states not to adjust the mid screw, but when I turned the low speed the whole way in to start over at the recomended specs, the mid screw started to turn with the low speed, I'm not sure how much it changed and I tried to reset it back to what I assume was spec according to the manual. Now could that be my whole prob?

As far as run time on the engine, well the prior own only ran about 4 tanks through it. don't know if that included break in or not, but either way, very little time. I've only managed to get about 5-6 tanks through it, usually half tank at a time.

The mid screw should be (I believe) flush with the houseing and yes that darn thing can screw it all up I have mills with the mid screw and have learned to just leave them alone. as for whatever else may be the problem I donno. And don't give up.
