Is an Infrared Temp. Gage the Best Way? What Temp.?

My Savage Book says 250 degrees in 1 place and 280 degrees in another place. What is really the best?

K4.6..225 degrees durring 80 degree summer weather.IMO

I had a RC10 GT for 4 years and never owned a temp gun...I used the spit test on the head and I never had any problems with that engine. If your not familar with that technical test just take your finger after a few minutes of running and dab a good swab of spit on your heatsink should not sizzle off faster than 3 seconds or your too lean. I like mine around 5 seconds and the temp will be around 230* on my mill...I have a nice tempgun and every time I run my truck I do this to make sure my temp gun isn't fibbing to me.
