interchanging diffs ??

Hey guys. Quick question here. How interchangeable are the diffs on various Savage models. I ask because I blew my first diff on my Savage 25 (probably due to fatigue and the bigger 4.6K). Anyway, there is enough damage to warrant replacing the cup and gears all together, and I've found several on Ebay advertised for X, SS, XL.... all complete with aluminum cups even at times. Will any of these fit in my truck?

If not, what models can I look for to fit to broden my search? I ask only because since mine is an older truck, parts online particular to the 25 are harder to come by.

They are all interchangeable, however the Flux Ring gear houses a different bearing (ID). The XL Gears are Machined so they are tougher than the other Models Pre-X. You also want to be sure to run Aluminum cups.

yeah they are all interchangeable. but make sure you get the ones pulled off an x rtr or x ss and not xl because the drive cups are bigger on the xl to hold the bigger and thicker dogbones.

if your diffs don't come with alloy cups for some reason, you can buy the xss kit at a lhs for about $11. includes gears.


also, you might already know this, but you'll want to shim.

Great Point Max if you are looking to purcahse the full assembled Diff instead of just the Ring and Pinion Gear.
