Ignition Power Input

Hi to all,

New Octane user here. Got a used Octane, overall still looks quiet good. I have tried run the motor but only idle, it also sounds no problem. Charge the stock batteries and just 2 pulls and the motor fired up.
And from the manual says that the stock battery only last for 3 tanks. I want to do a LiPo mod. My question is, on the Ignition listed that 'power 6v to 8.4v'. So can I connect LiPo to the ignition without a BEC? Connect the LiPo directly to the ignition, could I? If can't connect directly, how much amperage for a BEC should I use? FYI, I have CC BEC 10A.
