So i was driving my savage for the first time since winter up and down the road when all the sudden it stopped. Disassembled the trans and found this...

Any one got some input on a heavy duty upgrade?

Thanks for the quick reply. I hope this works. Just wish there was a good rc shop around here. only managed to pick up the stock one

Yes it did. Was just driving it up and down the road. When i went into the grass it just stopped. Ran over shut it off, Took it back, rolled it around and it was fine. Started again and nothing. The clutch bell mesh was fine so i took the top off the trans and took me a couple of minute to find that at the bottom.

yea, it looks like it was a porous casting. teeth just clean came off. I have had a racer edge clutch bell do that. and shattered a few 3 speed finals but not that one yet...

yep... i do that every 5 runs or so. Even the light weight gears break after 10 runs. This is all with shimming and no movement.

I have 2 gearboxes at all times. When ones in the truck, the other is out and already repaired. I find it cheaper to replace stock gears and i prefer them as they have a better contact area. HPI should really rectify this, and get rid of the tranny all together!

finally got a chance to put it in today. also did some cleaning while it was apart. works great. One thing i noticed was there is no grease in the transmission. I do need to shim it though. nother day
