i have purchased the 3.5 savage bigblock and as i am running it in it over reves to full power by its self ??

what i mean is as it is held up off the ground i prime it then aply the glow start then pull it

then when its running on idle with the radio gear off (like dvd says) it pics up the revs on its own to the poing it sounds like its doing 300mph + lol in my dreams

i have ajusted the idle screw to its minimum when it is doing this and it worked for a short while then started again ..... I'm scared of letting it run in case the head blows off or something ....

any advice ??

I'm using 33% nitro fuel that my local model shop said runs the same as 20% ??

but I'm not sure ????????????????????

33% nitro is certainly not the same as 20%, but thats not your problem. Sounds like your sucking air from some where. Check out your motor and carb for leaks.

yea if yo have your truck propped up and running and you hold your carb almost shut but it is high revving you got an air leak from somewhere.

Just like everyone says, You got a bad air leak somewhere or your low speed needle isnt set right. Make sure the needle is set flush with the throttle slide and if that doesnt do the trick seal the card base and make sure you seal the back plate or check the back plate screws to make sure they are tight.

first off you should have the TX/RX on whenever you start yout rc. If the problem continues, then check for air leaks. My Savage didn't come with a DVD. Peace.

^^^^^^^^^^^ or make sure your linkage is not in anyway holding the carb slide open. Also check the amount of gap you have for the idle. Stay calm and check all the basics first, double check if you have to. If it still plays up, then an air leak is probably the cause.

I may have jumped in head first and misread your question. The last two posts above are what you should try first. While it's idling physically take your finger and push the carb all the way closed. If it still is revving wildly then reset your needles to the factory setting. If you still have issues then seal up the engine. The solution may not be with an air but just the linkage. I still believe sealing up your engine is a good idea non the less. Thanks HopIt and GROOVETHUMPER.
