Hi All,

I have been searching around on eBay and online for a replacement grease (Z164 part number), and I am struggling to find any suppliers who has any in stock.

Can anybody recommend a suitable replacement?

I have been searching on some forums, and a few people are recommending ‘Moly Axle’ by Schumacher.

Can anyone vouch for this product?

I and rebuilding a few savages and need something that’s going to be as good or better as the HPI grease Z164.

Cheers!

I use lucas red-n-tacky. Sticks to gears well and seems to do a good job. Some say it harms plastic, but I haven't seen that. Those that are concerned used silicone based grease instead.

This stuff is silicone safe and I've seen it suggested a few times for diff gears (ring/pinion):

Thank you all for the replies! I will order some of this looks good stuff and will last longer than those small tubs :).

Thank you!

... how often do you change the grease? Do you find this stuff lasts long? How do you determine when it should be replaced?

I used CowRC Utter Butter on my last rebuild of the diffs. I'll have to look into some chain wax for outdrives and dog bones

all cow rc udder butter is is simply blue waterproof boat wheel bearing grease, and you can buy a large tube at most auto parts stores for a couple bux......

Hi I am new as a lot of yas know should I lube spur dog bone cups etc. often like a chain on a motorcycle????

Where can I get that at auto parts store or???
It's for bicycle chains, so a bicycle shop, or amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/White-Lightning-Clean-Ride-Squeeze/dp/B0016ZXE06

Shake it before applying it. I have mine in a different bottle with a longer nozzle to make it less messy to apply as the bottle it comes in likes to dump out a lot more than you need for RC stuff. I just have to make sure to clear the nozzle after using it each time or the stuff dries in the nozzle and clogs it.
