why does it need to come out ? To do most things, that's not needed. All but its lower shaft will come out with it in the chassis. And you can do all work on the chassis/ drive train with it in.

i thinnk the gears are script in it cause it will pul but make a noise like its trying to pull but it just grabb and slip

ok you have 3 threads going on this one issue. I'm merging them. don't make more you wont get more help splitting it over many threads

Take off the 4 screws that hold on the roll bar ..... then take out the 3 screw in the top half of the tranny case. the top will come off at that point. you don't need to pull the full thing yet.

no one thread says how to remove transmission , one says the problem i have.

and ok

+1 on what Justin said.
If it's a X style tranny you can take the 3 or 4 screws (mine has 3, some have 4) out and the top part of the tranny will come off and you can access every thing except the bottom shaft like Justin said.

and well if your tranny wont open from the top, then yes i find it easier to take one tvp off, take the 8 screws out that hold the tranny in-place then pull it right out.

I'm Justin BTW and I was talking about the other two threads. I merged them together and changed the title. your all set ...

Once you get into the top all the guts pull out. look for broken teeth. If you find them in the bottom you need to pull the rest of the case to fix it. If its in the center section that pulls out you don't .. If you find no gears broken its not the tranny doing this.

also, the manual that comes with the Savage is very useful. it show exploded views on virtually every component of the truck. if you've lost yours, you can download it from hpi & there is a link here.

it is also very good to keep a copy close at hand to get part #'s & sizes of nuts, bolts and bearings as needed 😉

i just looked at my car and the transmission don't come off at the top it bolts of to the side

if it is a savage X it does... top half will split for easy access. thats what the X line of savages is all about. tranny case, diff case and lower CG changes
