how to care for your batteries

I had i thought and wanted everyones opinion. My wrenching spot is in my garage witch means my batteries are as well.now i no the cold is not good for car batteries is this the same with the hump packs and others for are r/c? should i be taking them inside ?

mine are in my garage between 45-50 degrees f.

i cycle em about once a month. you should also cycle when you get that new charger workin 😉

thats what i do, still running the 1200mah hump pack for almost 2years & it hits near 8v

ROFLMAO!!! they will be here tomarrow if i had to guess.. but the weather probebly holding them up alittle.

The charger!! Who knows when it will get here "Hong Kong is a long ways away..lol

I'd take them in, not like they take up much space, just stick um in a kitchen drawer, haha. I think the protocol is to store batteries at a mid level charge or so, and it would be a good idea to cycle them if you can.

lipos are recommended notto store at 100% charge. A good LiPo charger will have a 'storage' charge cycle which will not charge the pack to 100%

Nicd & NiMH doesnt matter.


you don't wanna discharge a pack to store..... it will lose a little power over time sitting idle anyway. dis-connect from the Rx though.

Li-po its good to fill them to 70% and then leave them(don't leave them discharged), but lipos in any case lose capacity over time and cycles its chemistry.And don't make necessary cycles on them.

Ni-mh need to be charged at time to time cause they suffer from selfdischarging and leaving them empty not god.

I knew I was talking about Lipos when I wrote that I just couldn't remember why... last night I remembered, I read it in the paper work that came with my LiPo cordless drill 🙂 If I store the drill I just charge it up all the way and then run it a little and then leave it like that. I had to use the drill the other day (hadn't touched it in at least 6 months) thing was strong and lasted as long as ever, freakin awesome!

So NiMH you leave fully charged, is that the deal?

my LiPo in storage mode on the shelf in the house and my NiMH packs sitting on the shelf in the house also so they don't get colde
