What's the quickest and easiest way to completely replace the dual red fiber disc brakes and the pads? Do I have to pull the savage apart into two pieces? I have the x 4.6 RTR model, and the manual doesn't specify how the process should go. In the X SS manual the car is still in two pieces when the brakes are installed.

Any tips?

The way I would do it is take the side plate off on the exhaust side. Then pull the tranny out and change the brakes and put everything back. I do the exhaust side because there are no linkages or any thing in the way that you have to remove extra.

ryugaiden's way works otherwise remove the rear 1/3rd via the 4 screw's to into bulkheads and 2 going into the lower cross brace, pulling on the TVP enough to slide it off. Then remove the 4 screws that hold the motor plates cross brace and slide motor out. Now the Brakes are easily accessible.

I'm actually planning to do this today, so thanks for the advice. At first, I was going to remove the rear suspension assembly, but then I thought it would probably have as many screws to undo as removing the side plate. I'm probably going to try the side plate method. I will report back. Thanks, guys.
