hello,

I was adjusting my high speed needle today and noticed that there's a piece of plastic around it. Can I take this off? It's extremely hard to adjust, I can't even tell if it's flush anymore to tune it properly.

This is a HPI K5.9 Engine

Not sure if you can take it off, but in the exploded view of the engine, it is a seperate piece I believe. On the HSN collar/tube, there should be a groove/marking about a third of the way down, this should be your starting point for tuning. Line up the bottom of the plastic with this marking.

I see the line your talking about, still not sure what the plastic piece is. I basically had to turn it waaay down and richen the mixture and work my way up slowly.

I believe the idea of the plastic cover on the needle is so the needle can be adjusted without tools.

Just to clarify, turning the needle down would be leaning the mixture.

Yes that would be correct just like traxxas and a lot of others they have put those plastic rings around the hs needle for easy tuning and yes you can remove it and run with out it and yes clockwise is lean counter is rich.
