Just wondering & thought I would ask what size hex hubs do you all use or prefer 14mm, 17mm, or the 23mm.

I'd say 17 at least. I haven't used 23mm hexes but the bigger the better as long as it's not adding too much weight. For max size wheels i'd use 17mm and for 40 series 23mm as that's what most of the wheels are.

I'm running the 17 mm hexes and they hold up alot better then the old 14mm style, haven't stripped a hex yet!! so i assume mtbikertim is correct in saying the bigger u go the stronger but remember the bigger the tires u run the more wear and tear on your drivetrain!!

I run 23mm here.....I use pro-line;s adaptor.......works great and even looks good.

No problems yet.

After stripping several sets of wheels I switched to 23mm No problems yet I do have a truck running 17mm conversion (works good) but don't have wheels and tires to put on it,I need to sell some of the many 14mm wheel/tire combos first.

I'd say the best thing about the savage 17mm setup is the wheel nuts. Those things never come loose. At least they haven't for me but the nuts always come loose on my other trucks.

I had my savage 25 and they was always coming loose on me (14mm) even if I put lock-tight on them..........

I run 17mm hex hub conversion set on my savage and 23mm on everything else. not a problem with either. I do like the way the 23mm hubs take all the play out of the wheel. Very secure fit. I think the bigger the hex the more secure the rim has to be providing you can find the rim and tire your looking for in that size.

Very good point MTBTIM! That is SO Annoying, even with locktite! The same for the 23mm Hex nut, They stay where you put em.

I've experienced that as well. I gotta pretty much pry/pull to get the wheels off. I imagine if they came loose the wheel may even stay on, for a bit. LOL yea right, who am I kidding. LOL
