help on Transmision

ok I got my savage out an I'm having a tranny problem it will not go when i give it gas. the wheels will sometime go a little then it just sits then it will go a bit but mostly just sits i don't know where to start . is there a link on trannys I'm just frustrated any help it would be appreciated. Thanks

Does it roll freely when the engine is off? Does the engine rev when you apply throttle?

yes

yes it does I can start it off the floor an the wheels turn but once on the floor no power hesitates then it will go sometimes but not far an just sits there no power when going at all

Is it reving up and not going or is it bogging down? Loose slipper or clutch issues.

Check to see if the spur gear is stripped. If it is, it needs to be changed. When the engine revs up, does the spur gear spin? If the spur is spinning check the slipper like Grumpy said and tighten down if needed.

If the spur gear is not spinning when the engine revs up you have a clutch problem.

Another thing to check. Place the truck on the ground and roll it backwards, assuming the slipper is tightend down, the spur gear should spin. If it does, this means your drive train, including the tranny is probably good.

yep, my guess is slipper nut if your spur gear is not toast.
